An inflatable projection screen can make for a great addition to a backyard theater, or a great large projection screen for an outdoor event. There are several things that you will want to lookout for before purchasing an inflatable movie screen. They can be a great bargain when compared to other projection screens, but there could also be some extra costs that you may have to look out for.
- If you need to pay shipping, in some cases it can be ridiculous. Some inflatable projection screen kits can have an extremely high shipping cost. Be sure to incorporate this cost into the price of the screen.
- Look for fast self-inflation. Most inflatable movie screens offer self-inflation, however in some cases it can take way too long. The last thing you want is a screen that takes hours to inflate.
- If looking for a portable projector screen make sure a case is included. There are many pieces to an inflatable projection screen and if you are going to be moving the screen around frequently you will want to make sure a case is included not only to make it easier to carry but to make sure that you do not lose parts.
- If you are using a HD projector make sure the viewing area adheres to a 16:9 ratio. White space above or below the screen can really take away from the viewing experience. Be sure to watch out for this as sometimes the cheaper screens adhere to a 4:3 ratio.
- The screen should have a perfectly flat viewing area. With some of these screens the viewing area can be crumpled or irregularly shaped. Be sure to check up on the particular model that you are buying and make sure that the projector screen material used as the viewing area stays flat.
- A black border is a requirement for the best possible picture. Some outdoor projection screens have no border at all, or a border of less than an inch. Look for a screen to have a border around the screen of two inches, and make sure it is made out of non-reflective material.
- Speakers could be an extra cost. Some outdoor inflatable movie screens include speakers with them, some do not. Be sure to factor this into the price of the screen.
- Check the weight if you plan on moving the screen around. If you will be moving the screen over large distances then be sure to check on the weight. Some inflatable projector screen kits can be extremely heavy, and make for poor portable projector screens.
