Sometimes the theater system doesn't give what you desire and you feel cheated. The reason for poor sound quality may be the speaker wires. Investing a small amount from your pocket for the right wires to get a noticeable change in sound quality is never a bad idea.
Speaker wires play an effective role in bringing the best and worst sound quality out of the theater system or speakers. Length of the wires affect the sound quality to a great extent and moreover home theater systems require a set of long cables. To avoid compromising on quality, buy wires which have RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) and lower resistance. Try to place the speakers at positions not too far from the main system, thus reducing the length of speaker wires.
It is recommended to purchase a thicker wire as it is capable of handling electric signals in a better way along with reduction in the resistance of the cable. This results in a longer life for your speakers and quality sound output. Thinner wires on the other hand are less expensive and easy to maneuver under flooring; but make sure that it is made using quality components.
The gauge size is another important factor. This factor depends on your budget and sound quality you want to acquire. Make sure that the speaker wires you decide to opt for suits the home theater system. The lower the gauge the more thicker the speaker wire and better quality. Recommended gauge to use for your home theater system is 12-16.
