How to connect a home theater system to a set top box.?

Question:
I have an LCD tv. My dvd player (home theater system) is already attached to it. So whenever I watch a vcd/dvd, i get the sound from the home theater speakers. But how can I get the sound of my tv channels (coming from my set top box) to come from my home theater system. Is there any way to connect the set top box to the dvd player.?


Answer: Look for any audio out jacks on the box. Unless the box is for High Definition, you will not be getting surround sound, but it should have RED/WHITE composite jacks for AUDIO OUT. Running your red/white cables from the audio out to an input on your receiver should get you stereo.

If you have the "Home theater in a box" system with your Receiver/DVD player in a single unit, you are probably out of luck as these devices don't have the connectivity that a custom built system would.
