When you purchase a rear projection television with digital light processing (DLP), you should know that there is no need to call a repairman when you discover your picture fades. Of course, you shouldn't expect a lamp burnout shortly after you bring your TV home, but it's good to have a few replacement bulbs in a safe place so they are handy when the time comes. Buying replacement lamps for your DLP television helps save money and makes fixing the set more convenient for you.
It should be noted, too, that not all replacement TV lamps are created equally. Different models require certain lamps in order for the picture to work. Let's say, for example, you own one of the following Sony models:
- KDF42E2000
- KDF46E2000
- KDF50E2000
- KDF50E2010
- KDF50EA11
- KDF55E2000
- KDFE42A10
- KDFE42A11
- KDFE50A10
- KDFE50A10PRMO
- KDFE50A11
- KDFE50A12U
- KF42E200
- KF50E200
- KF55E200
- KFE42A10
- KFE50A10
As you shop for TV lamps, whether at an electronics store or on the Internet, you'll find a variety of bulb types for sale. It's important when you are ready to purchase that you don't grab the first one you see. You will need to check that the replacement lamp fits your TV.
In the case of the above models listed, you will need the proper bulb, in this case a 2400 XL. Were you to install a different style of lamp in your set, you might find it either will not fit correctly or will not work. Having the right brand in your set it is important in that you do not want to cause any damage.
When it comes time to replace burn-out bulbs in you DLP set, take the care to know which equipment you need to ensure a lasting entertainment experience.
