Can Bose Cinemate Speakers be used as rear surround hooked up to my Receiver?
Question:
I have a pair of bose cinemate speakers and am wondering if they can be hooked up to a regular receiver.
Answer: Yup, you can... But they will perform worse than say other speakers that are under $100... And will be wildly outperformed by speakers more than that...
But then again, you may not notice much anyways- cuz the surrounds are mostly used for background sounds- especially in 7.1 systems.
Try them then compare and you will know what I mean.
You see... Bose speakers are small (which is great) but requires agressive Dsp (digital signal processing) to force the little(cheap) speakers to aspire to be full range.
This dsp is located in their Accoustimass module...so without it, they'll be even further from full range!
